Practice Approach
The Mindful Maple strives to provide a safe and supportive space for children ages 5 to 12 years ofage who are experiencing difficulties associated with anxiety-related disorders and general anxious thoughts and feelings in their daily lives.
In addition to providing children with the tools necessary to enable them to effectively cope with the daily demands of living with worry and/or fear, The Mindful Mindful continually strives to meet and exceed clients' expectations of respect and confidentiality. It is my belief that an effective therapeutic outcome is best achieved through a client-counsellor relationship that is built on empathy, respect, trust, and genuineness.
To provide a welcoming and secure environment that responds to the needs of each client, The Mindful Maple vows to respect and honour individuality, multiculturalism, and diversity. The Mindful Maple values the diversity of humanity and its abundance of differences in age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, mental and physical health and ability, social and economic status, and religion.
Services
At some point, all children have and/or will experience stress and anxiety. Today, there are more reasons than ever for children to be anxious. Anxiety, whether or not diagnosed as a disorder, is the most common mental health concern among today's children and youth. However, it is often difficult to recognize a child who is struggling with anxious thoughts and/or feelings. Anxious children often don't have the vocabulary to communicate their feelings, which can manifests itself in many ways, such as negative or disruptive behaviour, increased caregiver attachment, physiological complaints, avoidance, and significant distress.
The SILVER LINING...anxiety is very treatable with high success rates in children and youth. Treatment outcome is especially effective when a child engages in early intervention, helping the child to manage their anxiety by providing emotional support, effective coping skills, cognitive strategies to challenge anxious thoughts, and behavioural strategies to manage physical symptoms of anxiety. With services available for children 5 to 12 years of age, The Mindful Maple focuses its efforts on ensuring your child is receiving the appropriate services to best address his or her unique needs.
I'd like to help your child take back their childhood - with his or her ONLY worry being how to be a child.
